Every thanksgiving is different

Thanksgiving is a time for family, football and the Macy's Day parade! It is for me anyway, But I spoke to some students around Troy campus who told me of different family traditions as well as the different types of food they eat. I never expected pizza and beer on Thanksgiving but every Thanksgiving is different.

Turns out my family makes the very generic Thanksgiving spread, but here are some minor variations and recipes for your true blue standard dinner1

Some people like to Travel during the Holidays, and others are living abroad for various reasons, I have listed some Thanksgiving Dishes from around the world, (Check out Russia!)

It was very interesting to learn that Thanksgiving is NOT just what you are used to and it can be celebrated in very different ways.

Here I have a poll to see what YOU had for Thanksgiving, feel free to share your answers!

Homecoming is this week!

Troy University is taking on homecoming week in full force, some activities have been painting the street, dunking booths, and yearbook pictures. One event that I attended was the food around the world in one meal. Where students could eat different kinds of food from various cultures. Watch the video to see how that went.

Halloween things and a Haunted place!

Halloween? Its an exciting time for kids and adults to be whoever they want to be or just something scary. Some places like the Spirit store in Dothan are just like Halloween and only come once a year, places with more to do like the Frightmares haunted house, located in Downtown Dothan
and Corndodgers farms in headland are open for business every day of the week for general fall activities!

Among many things that get people excited about for Halloween are the places to visit, as well as the local hauntings and attractions.

In this video below I show a little bit of Dothan's Halloween Spirit store (where the manager requested that I not film the occupants for comfort shopping reasons), and a pumpkin patch in our very own city of Troy.

But the scariest part of Halloween is getting to hear local ghost stories and visit some haunted places. A small group and I visited one of Troy Universities rumored haunted locations. Shackleford Hall.

One of the individuals exploring the haunted hall offer a more in depth view of this attic, Fellow Ghost Hunter Samantha shows us more.

Troy construction.

New Res is arguably the nicest looking building on Troy Campus, students death with construction crews all last semester. But it is not over yet. New construction is underway with the pond behind New Res. Whaley Construction is added Terra-cotta warrior statues around and even inside the pond. My video shows the progress so far and the effects it has had on the area.

Finding something to look at.

Here in this video I show a common industrial Air Conditioning unit. upon further inspection I saw great video shots of the inside of the mechanism as well as an interesting up close view of some screws that in combination with the right angle really made the AC unit look much cooler than it is, Pun intended!

Historical Reenactment comes to Troy

In this video i discuss how Troy is home to historical reenactments in the form of Live action Role Playing, commonly referred to as LARPING. Some Troy students go as far as dressing in chainmail and full costume to emphasize the realism in what they do.

Interviewing at the Gym!

While at the Gym I decided to find someone to interview, in a place full of people trying to better themselves I had to find someone slightly less involved, but part of the gym none the less. Click the link to see it!

Journalism Majors, working together.

The students in the journalism department all strive for the leadership position. We all want to be on Television and/ or in positions of control within the news industry. The students of TrojanVision seize any opportunity to show the world that we are the core of the Troy TrojanVision news production. In my video I show the inside of the production booth and how the general set up is.
Within moments of my filming another student in my class comes in to film the booth as well. Shortly after that another student is seen doing the same! We all shared a common thought for the project at hand. Film what we enjoy, which is the news.
TrojanVision news is the student run news show that produces Midday, Global, and Nighty News. The entire broadcast is run by students from Production, Cameras, Anchor and catching the news stories on campus and off. The staff offers tips and guidance to the students while we also learn by trial and error.
The Hall school of journalism offers classes such as reporting, interviewing and information and hands on production materials. Because TrojanVision is student operated the students can attend and operate on volunteer, even if they are not Broadcast Majors.
Most of the news stories brought to the station are about on campus events that some organizations set up, they can pertain to fraternity and sorority events and just anything in general that the student body as well as others in the area should know about. Other material includes more worldly news such as severe weather and political current events.

During nightly news, another show titled Trojan Talk is aired where the host invites influential students, faculty and staff to be interviewed. The show within a show airs for roughly five minutes before switching back to the student crew for the closing.
